Tom Gross, President. Tom has lived in the greater Solon area since 1995. Tom is a Pulmonary Physician at University of Iowa Health Care. He and his wife, Linda Lee, have two children in the Solon Community School District. Tom has a special interest in science education and cultivation of the performing arts.
Kevin Wise, Vice President. Kevin has lived in the Solon School District since 1998. He and his wife Ellen, have two children, Adam and Mackenzie. Kevin is a Team Leader in the Personal Cleansing Care Department at Proctor and Gamble.
Denise Bruck, Secratary. Denise is a Senior Accountant at the University of Iowa. Her husband Chris is the Cost Accounting Manager at Terex Corporation in Cedar Rapids. They have two sons, Logan, 8 and Dillon, 6. They have called Solon home for since 2005.
Mike Turner, Treasurer. Mike has lived in the Solon School District since 1996. He has a BBA in Finance from the University of Iowa and is a loan officer for Hills Bank & Trust, Co. His wife, Kim, is a registered nurse at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and they have two children, David, a sophomore in high school and, Cash, a second grader.
Kevin Blind, Board Member. Kevin Blind and his family moved to rural Solon in 1995. He and his wife, Chris, have three children - Adam, Kelly and Erin. Erin is a Junior at Solon High School. Adam is a graduate of the University of Iowa College of Business, and Kelly is an Accounting major there. Kevin is managing editor of IFT Publications in Cedar Rapids, publishers of several Midwest agricultural newspapers. Chris is nursing supervisor of post anesthesia at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. Kevin is a past president of the Solon Athletic Boosters. He and Chris are also members of the Beef Days Committee, chairing Kids Corner. Kevin also is involved with the Knights of Columbus at St. Mary's Church in Solon.
Jerrett Ferguson, Board Member. Jerrett is a Systems Administrator and Programmer at the University of Iowa, with a BS in Computer Science from the U of Iowa and BS in Business from Iowa State University. His wife, Jen, is a registered nurse at the Veterans Hospital of Iowa City and together they have 2 sons, Sam and Nate, both going to Lakeview. They've lived in Solon since 2006.
Lois Geist, Board Member. Lois is a physician at the University of Iowa. She and her husband Chick Carroll have two adult children, both of whom graduated from the Solon School District. She was previously on the Solon School Board. She has been active in the district in a variety of venues, particularly with the music and science programs.
Tawnia Kakacek, Board Member. Tawnia is the City Clerk/Treasurer for City of Lisbon. She has worked for city government for the last 18 years. Tawnia and her husband Phil; with their three children; have lived in Solon since 1990. Over this time, she was actively involved in the community; whether through school functions, Cub Scouts, Dollars for Scholars; or serving as Solon PTO President, on PTO Committees, and on the Friends of Library Board. She currently serves on the Solon United Methodist Church Finance Committee, various committees for Cities, and on the Board for their housing development. Tawnia enjoys working and volunteering for the betterment of the children/school/and community.
Teresa Kulper, Board Member. Teresa is the Director of Organizational Development at the University of Iowa. She has a Master’s of Social Work. Teresa and her husband, Mitch, have two children, Corinne, 15 and Madison, 12. They have lived in Solon for about 16 years.
